BLACK WOMEN’S WELLNESS STUDY....

The Project is a test site for a national weight management program being developed by the National Black Women’s Health Project in conjunction with the University of Pennsylvania. This program is funded by the National Institutes of Health. We recruited a select group of women to participate in this 18-month study. The study helps women identify the emotional and cultural aspects of their eating habits with a goal of changing eating behaviors to help them live healthier lives. This project hopes to be the first to develop an effective weight management program for Black women who suffer disproportionately from the negative health outcomes of obesity.

Featured Health Concern:

We have to put ourselves first when it comes to health. Women support and nurture everyone else, if we don’t take care of ourselves first, we will not be able to take care of our children. This is the time to put self first.
